Course Objectives The aim of this course is to provide students with the necessary knowledge and experience to translate a literary or technical text in English or Turkish into the target language individually.
Learning Outcomes The students who succeeded in this course;
  • define stages and strategies for the translation of literary texts;
  • define stages and strategies for the translation of technical texts;
  • find appropriate solutions to translation problems;
  • justify their translation decisions;
  • revise their translations.
Course Description This is an independent study in which students will work independently, yet under the supervision of instructors, taking responsibility from selecting the texts they will translate to submitting their translations on time, and meeting the instructors for feedback. Students are also required to write the translation process, focusing on the problems they encounter in translating the text and solutions they find to those problems.
